We will Serve the Lord

"As for me and my house,
we will serve the Lord."
Joshua 24:15

This is one of our favorite verses.

As for me and my family,
we will serve the Lord.
As for me and my business,
we will serve the Lord.
As for me and my hobbies, my plans,
my dreams and ambitions,
we will serve the Lord.

We should be like the wise man
who built his house on the rock
and not on the shifting sands of
earthly things.

A Faithful Friend

"faithful friend"

How wonderful to have a faithful friend!
In Sirach 6:14, we read,
"A faithful friend is a sturdy shelter,
he who finds one,
finds a treasure."
Where would we be without our friends?
How about you?
Are you a good friend?
Perhaps it is time to think about
what kind of friend we are!
Get a paper and pen and write down
the qualities you wish someone
would praise you for
at your funeral!
It's not too late to be a faithful friend!

We have the greatest example in Jesus!

See Heaven Open

In the 1st Chapter of John,
Jesus commends Nathanael for being
an authentic Israelite.
Nathanael was usually to be found
under a fig tree, which meant that
prayed and read the Word of God often.
Jesus promised Nathanael if he continued
reading scripture,
he would "see heaven open"! John 1:51

The design on this necklace and bracelet set
is taken from the original mixed media painting above.

Scrapbooking Styles

July is a good time to do scrapbooking as it celebrates the International Friendship Day on July 30th or on the first Sunday of August.

Some people have a difficulty scrapbooking because they don't know how to fill the pages apart from the pictures.  Here are some examples of how to decorate the scrapbook.

Keep items associated with that day.  For example, this travel page contains a bus and boat ticket.  These really transport you back in time don't they?

A birthday scrapbook needs to be festive, specially if you plan to give this as a gift to the celebrant.  Embellish the pages with different elements.  See a sample below dotted with letters, flowers, words from a magazine saying "Party Time" and matching colorful gift wrapper.
Christmas gatherings can be filled with fun and must be preserved well through Christmas images and short descriptions of what transpired.  The page below has an empty portion at the center for filling in the memories.

Every time a baby comes, a new scrapbook is born too!  Here, an erstwhile plain scrapbook becomes abloom with flower and heart elements.
Even a birthday card can be turned into scrapbook page material.  Here some cutout letters were used to personalize the page.  It's a major plus if you have pretty handwriting.  If not so, just use your printer to make out the wordings on the page.

You can use 3D elements to make your scrapbook pop!  The cover below boasts of a 3D flower component that already makes the page more special and fun.  Even if there are only a few scrapbook decorations on the cover, it is already a work of art!
Papemelroti artist Robert Alejandro made the intricately hand-drawn elements in the Guestbook cover below.  He used white ink to paint over dark handmade textured paper.

The materials used on this post are all eco-friendly as they are made from recycled paper.  They can be purchased at the Papemelroti branches or online shop www.papemelroti.com.

Scrapbooking Tips for Beginners

This coming July will be scrapbooking month at Papemelroti!
Ever-growing in popularity today is the hobby of Scrapbooking.  It has already elevated to another form of art as it allows the creative expression of the maker and makes use of different techniques in its completion.  From simple to elaborate styles and designs, one can choose to develop his own method for making it.

A scrapbook is basically a collection of photographs kept for posterity.  The creator chooses how to present the photographs to enhance the memories.  Sometimes it is decorated with memorabilia.  For example, pictures from a concert would have the tickets mounted alongside it or even flyers about the event.  Aside from giving enjoyment to the scrapbook-maker, it oftentimes gives pleasure to others by telling the story of the pictures more fully, even without a narrative.

Starting on a Scrapbook

Scrapbooking can be very rewarding!  It may seem like a daunting task to be able to create masterfully crafted albums but really the hardest part of the job is starting on it!  Sometimes we just need to set aside time to do it and you'll see that once you start, it will come easily and you will find it hard to tear yourself away from the project!

Before starting, you want to have everything you need within your reach so that you're less likely to stop and lose interest.  Gather all the materials you need and find yourself a suitable working area - one that has the proper lighting, a good flat area to work on as well as comfortable seat.
Ideally, all the pictures you will work on should be with you, labelled with the dates and other details so you don't have to stop and look for the information from all over (this can be very tiring and will interrupt the flow of your work).
